Lee-Anne Celebrates 18 Year Milestone and Announces Retirement

Media Release

4th May 2022

April 2022 marks almost two decades of teaching and caregiving at Staverton Kindergarten in Chelmer, Brisbane, for Lee-Anne Harvey. After 18 years of dedicated service, Lee-Anne has also announced her retirement in May 2022, after which she is looking forward to spending time with her family, putting her feet up (occasionally!) and continuing her travels throughout Australia..

Loved by families, children, and her colleagues alike, Lee-Anne’s warmth and passion for her work have helped the young people in her care thrive during kindergarten and beyond. She is passionate about indigenous culture being embedded into the kindy program and was instrumental in making this happen at Staverton. Lee-Anne enjoyed teaching the children native language greetings and sharing them with the families at the start and end of the kindergarten day.

With a commitment to Staverton’s vision of “play, discover, grow,” Lee-Anne encouraged the children to explore and learn through play, whilst also believing in routines to help children feel safe and prepare them for school and later life. Lee-Anne regularly brought in her pet bird Frank to chat with the class and enjoyed singing and painting with the children to develop their creativity and foster their imagination.

In her time at Staverton Kindergarten, Lee-Anne formed many strong relationships with local families, often teaching all the children within a family and remaining in touch as they progressed through school, further studies and/or the workforce. Lee-Anne has always been a friendly face at Staverton, who loves to chat and laugh with children, parents and caregivers. She is a much loved, hard working and dedicated team member who will be missed by all the staff and families at Staverton.

Staverton's Nominated Supervisor, Carrie Grassick congratulated Lee-Anne for her dedication to early childhood education and the important role she has played in inspiring and educating young minds. "I’m sure all the families, children and educators at Staverton will all join me in thanking Lee-Anne for all she has done for us and wishing her our very best."
